Japanese hibachi BBQ pork sticks

Serves 4 people



  • 8 pork belly rashers, thinly sliced 2-3 cm, rindless
  • ½ cup sushi seasoning
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons wasabi paste
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon dashi seasoning (seaweed and sesame seed seasoning)
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons wasabi paste
  • 1 lime zested and juiced


  1. 1.
    Thread the pork belly rashers onto small bamboo skewers.
  2. 2.
    Combine the sushi seasoning, soy sauce, wasabi paste, sesame seeds and dashi seasoning in a large shallow dish.
  3. 3.
    Place skewers into dish and allow to marinate, turning frequently for up to 24 hours.
  4. 4.
    Cook skewers on a medium heat on a preheated BBQ or griddle plate.
  5. 5.
    Serve hot with wasabi mayonnaise dipping sauce.
  6. 6.
    For the mayonnaise: combine the mayonnaise and wasabi paste with the zested lime and juice mix well. Use as required.

General Information

These pork belly rashers are also delicious marinated in a teriyaki marinade.
